There are 4 networks in the college that computers, printers and internet connected devices are assigned to.

Server network

Systems in this network are managed by COE IT.  They have all of the OSU monitoring tools installed on them.  Firewall exceptions are made based on the services provided by the server.  Servers that need access from the internet have to be approved by COE IT, the Office of Information Security, Senior Associate Dean, and the Associate Dean for Research.

Desktop network

Systems in this network are managed by COE IT.  The firewall is setup to allow inbound RDP and SSH to hosts from other OSU networks, along with a host of other services to allow for a smooth operation of the systems.  There is no direct access to these machines from outside the OSU network. 

Research firewall network

Systems in this network can be managed by faculty.  This network is available in each Engineering building.  There is no ability for systems to communicate between buildings.  Systems on this network can communicate with each other in the same building.  Systems have access to the internet.  The firewall is setup to allow inbound RDP and SSH to hosts from other OSU networks. 

WiFi network

Systems in this network can be managed by faculty.  This network is available in each engineering building.  Systems have access to the internet.  Systems on this network cannot communicate between each other.
